Adorable baby rhino and lamb friend playing
By TC NEWMAN
Gertjie is a baby rhino whose mother was killed by poachers. He overcame being orphaned to make the most unlikely of friends.
The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center in South Africa took in little Gertjie and nursed him to health after the death of his mom. To give Gertjie an animal family besides his human caretakers, Gertjie was housed with two sheep raised by humans.
And now, an adorable video has been released of Gertjie playing with his friend Lammie the goat. The two play around and Gertie tries to copy the goat's light gait, but his heavier rhinoceros body won't let him. Lammie won't let Gertjie get too far behind though, and comes back for his buddy. Seriously, could this get much cuter?
Yes, he's a giant rhino, but don't you just want to cuddle him?
Gertjie has become an Internet star because of the live camera in his HESC habitat. He has taught many people about the horrors of poaching and the killing of rhinos solely for their horns.
From animal conservation to friendship across all boundaries, looks like Gertjie and Lammie can teach us a lot.
