BET 2014 Hip Hop Awards worth the wait

BET has finally released their list of the 2014 Hip Hop Awards winners.

Stars made their way to Atlanta on September 20th, but fans had to wait until Tuesday to see what went down. In another uncharacteristic move by an awards show, BET released the whole list of winners prior to airing the event on television.

Looks like they was banking on performances than the element of surprise to get ratings. T.I., Common, YG, TY Dolla $ign, Rae Sremmurd, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, DJ Mustard, Vince Staples, Bobby Shmurda, Jay Electronica, DJ Premier all took the stage in a mixture of perennial favorites and up-and-coming superstars. Queen Latifah, Brandy, MC Lyte and Yo-Yo delighted fans with a reprisal of their hit "I Wanna Be Down" remix 20 years after it came out in 1994.


24-year-old DJ Mustard snagged the coveted MVP of the Year title as well as Producer of the Year and DJ of the Year. He was the producer behind hits such as 2 Chainz' "I'm Different,' Tyga's "Rack City" and "No Mediocre", by T.I. Drake also walked away a winner with four new honors to add to his resume.

Track of the Year: YG featuring Jeezy and Rich Homie Quan, "My Ni**a"
Video Director of the Year: Hype Williams
Who Blew Up Award: Iggy Azalea
