The California Highway Patrol has not released details on the type of controlled substance that Bynes was under the influence of.

The "What I Like About You" actress is certainly no stranger to run-ins with the law.

She is currently serving three years probation after she pleaded no contest to driving on a suspended license from a 2012 incident. Bynes was also arrested in May 2013 in New York City for allegedly throwing a bong outside of her apartment window. The case was later dismissed and she entered an outpatient rehabilitation program in August 2013.

Bynes left rehab in December 2013.
