Jackson Rathbone has near death experience when his flight makes emergency landing

Several people were injured Thursday when an airplane made an emergency landing at Long Beach Airport in southern California, CBS Los Angeles reports. Actor Jackson Rathbone, who starred in the "Twilight" series, was a passenger on the plane and took to social media to relay the story to his followers.

Jet Blue flight 1416, which was flying from Long Beach to Austin, Texas, turned back shortly after takeoff because of an engine problem, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Officials at Long Beach Airport say the flight had an "overheat warning with Engine No. 2," reports Fox News LA.

The plane landed at the airport at 9:30 a.m., and the passengers were told to slide down the inflated emergency slides onto the tarmac, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Four passengers were given medical attention.

Flight operations continued as normal after a brief delay, according to airport officials, and by 11:15 a.m., the aircraft had been towed off the runway, according to the Los Angeles Times.
