Trooper shot dead outside Pennsylvania barracks
A state trooper is dead and another injured after a shooting at a police barracks in Pennsylvania.
The shooting happened late Friday night just before 11:00 in Blooming Grove near the New Jersey border.
Investigators said it occurred during a shift change as one trooper was leaving the barracks and another arriving. It appears state police were a target. As of Saturday morning the shooter remains on the loose.
SWAT teams were dispatched to search for the suspect and helicopters were also seen flying over the area overnight.
An officer told ABC News, "It's very emotional for all of us. We're also focused on the investigation. It's going to be difficult for them and all of us."
This is the second fatal shooting of a state trooper in Pennsylvania in the past five years.
Trooper Joshua Miller was killed in the line of duty after a high-speed chase ended in a shootout in 2009.
