VMAs 2014 awkward red carpet moments

Awkward. The Video Music Awards red carpet brought some weird live TV moments Sunday night. Here are our top five.

At No.1, MTV's Sway confronted Miley Cyrus about Nicki Minaj's new vid getting more views on YouTube than her infamous 'Wrecking Ball.' She responded, "I can't beat that ass."

No. 2 -- Then he couldn't let Iggy Azalea forget her stage fall from a few nights before, saying, "if you fall off the stage tonight, we have nets here at the VMAs." She cringed a little as he brought up her embarrassing moment

There are always technical difficulties. At no. 3 -- where's Usher? Sway said, "We're supposed to see Usher here ... but he never turned up."

And again at No. 4 -- Sway seemingly couldn't hear this eager fan -- more technical difficulties or is he just ignoring a fan's question?

And No. 5 -- Lucy Hale tried to relate to Adam Levine's life in LA ... by just yelling things about LA.
