Experienced Rock Climber Dies After Proposing To Girlfriend

Brad Parker, 36, had just proposed to his girlfriend hours before falling to his death during a hike at Yosemite National Park.

The experienced rock climber and yoga instructor went climbing alone Saturday when he fell 300 feet.

According to The Press Democrat, Parker had been climbing since 1996, making his death an even bigger surprise to his family.

A park ranger said he was climbing without ropes and other climbers said they saw Parker fall just before 6pm.

Before his tragic death, Parker and his girlfriend, Jainee Dial, climbed to the summit of Cathedral Peak where he proposed to her. He told her it was the happiest day of his life.

This is the second climbing death in the park this year. His family said they plan to cremate him and spread his ashes at Yosemite, Sonoma coast and in Hawaii.
