Publix Supermarket Employee's Act of Kindness Goes Viral

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -A photo of a local random act of kindness went viral on social media.

Keith Kiel, of Ormond Beach, said he took the photo Saturday while he was shopping at a local Publix because the moment moved him.

Kiel said he saw a young employee helping an elderly man whose shoes laces were untied. The photo shows the employee tying both shoes for the man.

"He did it with a big smile and he tied the other one without being asked," Kiel said. "It was just amazing."

Kiel shared the photo on Facebook and it garnered over 200,000 "likes."

Later, Kiel returned to the store to find the helpful employee.

The young man, Gage Boucher, said he did it because he just wanted to help an elderly man who could no longer bend over with ease.

"People do this stuff every day. It just so happens that I get recognized for it. People do way bigger stuff," Boucher said. "He tried to give me money and I just said, 'I can't accept this.'"

Gage has accepted that even the smallest action can become larger than life.
