Widowed grandfather sobs over surprise gift of puppy (video, photos)

Davy Vanhaesendonck's grandfather, Francois Vermeir, lost his wife of 63 years on July 26th, 2014. She passed away after a "short but intense disease." Davy explains that his grandfather also lost his beloved dog -- and unfortunately, both loses came within four terrible months of each other.

Davy and his family decided to surprise their beloved grandfather with a puppy, hoping it would "give him energy and the courage to continue his life." He described the surprise as a "moment filled with emotions!" -- and after watching the video, we're sure you'll agree.

Francois Vermeir sobs as he asks "is it for me?" As he clutches his new pet (named Snoopy), Davy says "you're not alone anymore, grandpa. That's a friend for you."
