American poet Henry David Thoreau once wrote, "To regret deeply is to live afresh." One Chilean soccer player is making his biggest regret skin deep.

When striker Mauricio Pinilla kicked the ball straight into the crossbar during Chile's World Cup match against Brazil, he not only missed an opportunity to win the game, he says he missed a shot at glory.

After calling the missed shot an "unerasable wound," he decided to get a tattoo on his back of the ball nailing the crossbar, with the inscription, "One centimeter from glory." If that's not regretting deeply, I don't know what is.

Pinilla also tattooed the phrase "Blessed for life" across his forehead.

Hopefully Pinilla will get over the defeat and move forward with his career, because the missed goal is now literally behind him.
