Big Tex named #1 best quirky landmark

DALLAS -- The larger-than-life cowboy, Big Tex, has been voted #1 in USA Today`s Best Quirky Landmark in the nation competition.

Apparently Big Tex is quirkier than the Longaberger Basket home office in Ohio, which placed second in the contest.

As flattering as it is to be number one, the question lies: Is Big Tex seriously considered quirky?

Some folks say he`s creepy; especially after his post-fire makeover; however, Big Tex isn't the lone Lone Star on the winner's list. Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo nabbed the #6 spot, followed by the House of Beer Cans in Houston, which scored #7.

It seems that there's no question that when it comes to quirky, Texas is on top.

USA Today ran the four-week 10Best poll, with readers voting on their favorite quirky landmark. You can see all the winners here.
