NBA mock draft: Cavs to select Wiggins first overall?

1.     CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Andrew Wiggins, SF, Kansas – The Cavs will make this a Canadian reunion party, as the most athletic prospect in the draft will join Anthony Bennett and Tristan Thompson on an intriguing team. Wiggins and Kyrie Irving will be a fun tandem to watch too.

2.     MILWAUKEE BUCKS:

Jabari Parker, SF, Duke – The Bucks reportedly really like Dante Exum, but the pick here has to be Parker. The Paul Pierce comparisons aren’t far off, and he will help any team immensely right away.

3.     PHILADELPHIA 76ERS:

Dante Exum, PG/SG, Australia – We wonder if the Sixers will even make this pick, simply because rumors of a trade are getting louder. They’re reportedly infatuated with Andrew Wiggins, but word leaked on Wednesday the team obtained Joel Embiid’s medical records, signifying serious interest. Still, they can’t let Exum – the draft’s international man of mystery – slip by. ESPN’s Chad Ford was told by a general manager that the Australian guard is ‘the closest thing that I’ve seen to a young Kobe Bryant.’

4.     ORLANDO MAGIC:

Noah Vonleh, PF, Indiana – Vonleh has excellent length and will give the Magic an aggressive rebounder. The Chris Bosh comparisons – and the fact that he’s a matchup nightmare – will make Orlando fans excited.

5.     UTAH JAZZ:

Aaron Gordon, F, Arizona – Clearly, the Jazz want a marketable player to take them to the next level. "Franchise players. All-Stars. That’s what we’re looking to get," Walt Perrin, the team’s vice president of player personnel, said when the Jazz began their pre-draft workouts last month, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Gordon fits the bill.

6.     BOSTON CELTICS:

Joel Embiid, C, Kansas – This is a steal for the Celtics, who desperately need a facelift. They are getting the guy many figured would go first overall, before he suffered a broken foot.

8.     SACRAMENTO KINGS:

Julius Randle, PF, Kentucky – We wonder how he’ll co-exist with DeMarcus Cousins, but there’s no doubt Randle is a double-double machine that will help the Kings right away. Imagine a core of Cousins, Randle, Rudy Gay, Isaiah Thomas? Sacramento would be onto something …

9.     CHARLOTTE HORNETS:

Doug McDermott, SF, Creighton – It’d be such a “Bobcats” thing to do, right? All joking aside, McDermott is not Adam Morrison. The newly re-branded team could use another scoring threat to complement Kemba Walker.

12. ORLANDO MAGIC:

Tyler Ennis, PG, Syracuse – The Magic would walk away as the draft’s big winners if they were to select Vonleh and then follow up with Ennis, a pure point guard with a strong basketball IQ.

13. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES:

Nik Stauskas, SG, Michigan – Minnesota needs a shooter. Perhaps Stauskas will provide a much-needed scoring punch on a team that will likely be without Kevin Love soon.

14. PHOENIX SUNS:

Dario Saric, SF, Croatia – With three first-round picks, the Suns can afford to wait a couple years for this versatile playmaker to come to the States.

15. ATLANTA HAWKS:

Rodney Hood, SG, Duke – Hood will give Atlanta some depth in the backcourt and another outside shooting presence.
