In China, more than 10,000 bears are kept in captivity. Animals Asia are devoted to improving the welfare of these animals, and are currently converting a bear bile farm in Nanning into a sanctuary. Smudge is a four-month-old cub who is the first bear to enjoy an enrichment program, leaving staff confident she will enjoy a bright future. She now enjoys a range of comforts like a paddling pool, teddy bear, and climbing frame.
