Teen gets bitten by a shark ... and doesn't even realize it!

GALVESTON, TX -- You never know what might get you in the ocean. In the case of one Texas teen, you might not know you've been bit by a shark until you get out of the water!

That's right: 14-year-old Mikaela Medina was the only one in her family to hop into the ocean on Galveston Island and waist deep in the water, she says she felt something bump her back. "I was like, `this could be a shark,'" she said.

Though she wasn't in pain, Mikaela checked in with her mom, who was startled by what she saw: bite marks.

"We know about sharks, but you never thought that something like this could happen to your own daughter, so I was kind of in denial at the beginning," Mikaela's mom, Maria Amezaga, explained.

But maybe this shark was just being playful. Mikaela was treated on-the-spot by a doctor and didn't need anything further treatment -- not even stitches! She knows how lucky she is.

"It's really crazy," she said. "I didn't think that could ever happen, and it could have been a lot worse."
