Mystery locker messages getting lots of attention

Some students in Kentucky are making the news -- and it's not for bullying. A group of teenage girls got together and wrote 370-plus positive, uplifting notes for every 8th grader in their school and placed them on their lockers one morning before school.

That told WAVE news that they 'wanted to be anonymous' because they didn't want their act to seem like a plea for popularity.

Eventually, the 'Masked Muffins,' as they call themselves, were outed.

The three girls, Lauren Bale, Kennedy Nodler and Jessica Maillo, say it took about a month to write out the messages.

Some of messages included sayings such as:

• "'Stay gold'

• 'People write songs about those as lovely as you'

• 'You're cuter than a Build-A-Bear'

• 'You make people around you smile'

• 'Shine bright like a diamond'

• 'You don't need makeup...make-up needs you!'"

The school's principal said, "every student had motivational quotes on their locker this morning. This random act of kindness had a huge impact on the culture of the school."

And HLN notes the joy didn't stop with the notes:

"The three girls have started an Instagram account to continue to spread a positive message."

And on that Instagram account, the girls have posted even more positive notes, messages and quotes.

The school's principal says now other students are trying to come up with ways to continue spreading that positivity the girls started.
