Sometimes good deeds really do pay off.

A man in Australia is $80,000 richer after discovering a stash of money hidden in a toilet. Chamindu Amarsinghe works as a janitor in Sydney. He says he came across $100,000 while cleaning a bathroom of a TV company in 2011.

He told the Herald Sun he thought it was a joke at first but then turned the money in to his supervisor who contacted authorities.

After nearly three years, investigators weren't able to find out where the cash came from and this month a magistrate ruled it a case of "finders keepers" for Amarsinghe and gave him more than $80,000 from the stash. The remaining money will go to the state.

The magistrate told The New Zealand Herald, "There's no reason why such honesty shouldn't go unrewarded."

Amarsinghe says he'll use some of the money to help disabled people and also give some to a Buddhist temple.

It's nice to hear about people doing good deeds - and sometimes they're almost unbelievable.

A woman in Louisiana came across a bag of more than $220,000 while leaving work last year. That might sound like a major payday to some, but Jessica Luebke says she didn't think twice before turning it into police.
