Steven Spielberg crashed Bruce Springsteen's red carpet moment -- but the rock legend got his "revenge" when he realized what was going on behind him.

Who knew Spielberg was such a prankster? At a serious event attended by the president, Spielberg quietly got into the frame behind Spingstreen and his wife, Patti Scialfa.

It all went down at the USC Shoah Foundation's 20th Anniversary Gala in Century City, California on Wednesday.

When Steven and his wife Kate Capshaw posed later, the 'Dancing in the Dark' singer returned the photobomb favor.

After having his fun, Steven performed his duty, handing President Obama the institute's Ambassador for Humanity award.
