Hospitalized High School Senior Gets Surprise Prom

A high schooler in Alabama was hospitalized a week before her senior prom. Little did she know, her very own prom would come to her. This is how her special night began.

WTVM says Jazmen Holloway dressed up in her gorgeous gold gown, thinking she was getting ready to take pictures with her grandfather. She didn't expect to attend prom because of her medical condition.

Jazmen is battling pancreatitis. According to Mayo Clinic, this means inflammation in the pancreas affects digestion and the regulation of blood sugar.

But Jazmen's mother had a surprise in store. The idea was sparked when Jazmen's date said he was planning to visit her to give her a corsage, and possibly bring some friends with him. Jazmen's mother, Bobbie Upshaw, started telling others to come too. HLN notes:

"The word spread and 100 students came to her for prom."

Her friends' unexpected arrival to the Midtown Medical Center, where Jazmen is being cared for, surprised her in the best way. WTVM says:

"She was overcome with emotion."

And Jazmen wasn't the only one pleased with the outcome... her mother was, too.

"A dream come true... she was our princess for that night."

WTVM posted this story to its Facebook page with the comment "Amazing." And it was so amazing, the station even posted it a second time!

Upshaw even got a personal shoutout from a commenter on Facebook who expressed her appreciation for lifting Jazmen's spirits.

Upshaw said the nurses at the center helped decorate to make Jazmen's night even more special. And Jazmen told WTVM the surprise meant a lot to her.
