Justin Baynes, the woman's brother, said the bird doesn't seem to have an owner, but is often spotted hanging around their home off Williamsburg Road.

"For months now we have noticed a peacock loose in the neighborhood," Baynes said. "However yesterday when my sister awoke from a nap she noticed the door cracked open slightly."

When she walked into the kitchen, she found the colorful creature.

"She noticed the peacock was standing in the kitchen! She tried to 'shoo' it away and it flew up on the counter top. Afterwards she called our dad and he ended picking the peacock up and walking it outside," he said.
