One lucky dolphin got a second chance at life - and now he's a budding Picasso.

Chance nearly died three years ago when he was stranded on an Alabama beach after the 2010 oil spill.

The Sun Herald reports Chance is believed to be one of only a few stranded dolphins that survived the 2010 oil spill. When rescuers found him in Alabama in 2011, he was dehydrated, bruised, ridden with parasites, and he had a permanent spinal injury.

Fortunately, as WLOX reports, Chance has made a remarkable recovery at The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport and even picked up a new talent. With the help of his trainer, Chance has learned to paint. He and two other dolphins will begin participating in a "paint with a dolphin" program in the coming months.
