3 New Hotel Openings: Chicago's Kinzie, Miami's Cambria Suites and Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto
Chicago's Kinzie Hotel (pictured at top), Miami's Cambria Suites Miami Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto highlight the world's recent hotel openings.
Chicago, Illinois: Kinzie Hotel
The five-story, 215-room Kinzie Hotel, named after Chicago settler John Kinzie, opened Feb. 4 in what used to be the Amalfi Hotel. Located near The Loop in River North, the boutique's "interior finish juxtaposes vintage maps of Chicago's grid system in guest rooms with Banksy style street art in the lobby," according to Curbed Chicago. Rooms start around $200 a night.
Miami, Florida: Cambria Suites Miami Hotel
Choice Hotel's Cambria Suites Miami Hotel debuted Feb. 6. Located five miles from Miami International Airport, the hotelier says it's "specially designed for lifestyle travelers" (kinda feel sorry for non-lifestyle travelers). Each of its 122 suites offer "a separate living, working and sleeping space, ergonomic chairs, moveable desks and upscale linens," according to the press release. Rates start at $179 a night.
Kyoto, Japan: Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto
Billed as "Japan's first urban resort," the Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto opened on Feb. 7. Averaging 164 square feet, its 134 rooms are the largest in Japan's former capital city. Overlooking the Higashiyama Mountains and located on the Kamogawa River in Nijho Ohashi, the hotel is close to downtown Kyoto areas Gion and Kawaramachi-dori, the city's retail and entertainment districts. It's the fourth property for the Ritz-Carlton in Japan. Room rates start at, oh, let's not be gauche.
