Lunch Lady Said She Had Hit List Over Burned Cookies

Coworkers say the head cook at a Massachusetts middle school told them she had a hit list and would shoot up the school in an argument over burned cookies.

Police say 47-year-old Wendy Ferris got upset Friday afternoon before the end of the school day at King Philip Middle School in Norfolk, Mass. (Via WLNE)

"Went to another staffer angry and in an uproar. She was looking for a Bandaid and mad about having to re-bake cookies. Authorities say she was going to buy an AK-47 and shoot up the school." (Via WPRI)

Police say Ferris then told the school nurse she had a hit list, the nurse being at the very top of it. While Ferris left a note on her front door and wouldn't talk to reporters, her neighbors supported her.

"Ferris' neighbors say that's not the person they know. 'Wendy has always been - she's like an angel girl. Honestly, she's never does anything wrong.'" (Via WLNE)

Ferris appeared in court Monday with her attorney where a judge read her the charge of threatening to commit a crime. Her attorney told reporters she denies the facts of the case. (Via ABC)

WLNE reports Ferris does have a license to carry a firearm and owns a 9mm handgun, but she was required to surrender it to police as a condition of her bail. She's on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation.
