The largest Hilton Garden Inn in North America opened in Midtown Manhattan yesterday. Highlights include location, location, location. Also, a 24-hour fitness center. Rates start around $325 a night.
Charlestown, West Virginia: Four Points by Sheraton Charleston
The 176-room Four Points By Sheraton Charleston opened as scheduled on Jan. 16 -- one week after the a chemical spill contaminated the West Virginia capital's drinking water, putting the city in the national spotlight. According to Lodging Magazine, "To remove the chemicals from the tap water, residents and businesses had to follow a strict flushing process outlined by different zones across the counties. Luckily, for BBL [Hospitality, the owners and operators of the hotel] the Four Points is located in zone one-the first zone to begin flushing the water." Rates start around $134 a night.
Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India: Vana, Malsi Estate
Located in India's northern state of Uttarakhand, which borders Tibet and Nepal, Vana, Malsi Estate is a "wellness retreat that explores each aspect of wellbeing: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual." The resort creates customized itineraries depending on their wellness goals (so probably best to have some of those), which include "cuisine, relaxation, music, art, outdoor activities, discourses and discussion." With views of the lower Himalayan foothills, the 21-acre estate is also home to ancient forest and fruit orchards. A minimum stay is three nights, with per-night rates starting at 32,000 rupees (about $500).
