Loyal Dog Chase Stands by Owner Who Fell, Died in Pennsylvania Woods

Chase the dog barked all night after his owner, Claudine Murphy, fell and froze to death in the woods in Lancaster County, Pa.

Curious and fiercely protective, Chase now needs a new home.

The victim's brother, Glen Greene, said he was really surprised that Chase stayed with his sister all night. 'He's an inside dog, I'm sure he was pretty cold himself,' Greene said. 'He stuck with her, he's a good boy.' Chase's incessant barking alerted neighbors to the situation in the woods.

While Greene works through the grief of losing his sister, he's also trying to find a new home for Chase. Greene would love to keep him, but he doesn't have the room.

Now, his nephew might take him in. The goal is to keep him in the family, since he's a really important part of it. Green says Chase is acting a 'little melancholy,' but he's improving every day.
