Giant Rubber Duck Invades Sydney Festival

Florentijn Hofman's giant rubber duck has taken up a floating residence in Parramatta for the Sydney Festival, a music and art celebration that runs through Jan. 26. Festival-goers have taken notice.

While the big-ass duck is getting the attention on Instagram, performances of Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Anenas are headlining the 104-event festival. It's the first time the Sasha Waltz-choreographed show has been performed outside of Europe.

But back to the duck










Non-travel-related giant-duck tangent (a forced segue making its Internet debut): yesterday Late Night host Jimmy Fallon asked guest Bruce Springsteen, "Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse-sized duck?" Spoiler alert: sounds like Springsteen won't be heading to Sydney until after the festival's over and the duck's been deflated.
