Amtrak Train Hits, Kills Man; Later Runs Over a Second Man's Body

An Amtrak train hit and killed a man in Durham, N.C. on Sunday. After a three-hour delay, the train resumed its trip where, in Greensboro, N.C., it ran over the body of a second man, who'd just been hit by a different train.

The News & Observer reports that Amtrak passenger train Piedmont No. 75, heading from Raleigh to Charlotte, honked at a man walking along the railroad tracks at 12:30 p.m. The unidentified man failed to move out of the train's path in time and died at the scene.

After stopping for an investigation, the train resumed its trip west at 3:16 p.m. An hour later, a different train, traveling east, hit a second unidentified man in Greensboro. Moments later, the Piedmont No. 75 ran over that man's body.
