Proprietary Score Shines Spotlight on Economic Well-Being of U.S. States, Counties and Cities
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Earlier this summer, Lumesis introduced theDIVER Geo Score which represents a relative score of the economic health of a U.S. State, county or city. Based on a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the best, this data is updated monthly and is calculated from multiple economic and demographic factors related to three primary data categories—employment, income and housing.
Here are the latest results through September 30, 2013:
GEO SCORE: BY STATE
North Dakota topped the State Geo Score. Minnesota and Nebraska were added to the Top Ten, bumping out Maryland and Connecticut, with their Geo Score suffering a significant decline of 2.0 and 1.8, respectively.
Nevada represented the lowest Geo Score with no change from twelve months ago. New Mexico, Indiana and Ohio were added to the Ten Worst States, due to three major factors: all logging increases in poverty levels, foreclosure rates and unemployment rates. Furthermore, each of these States experienced at least two of three instances in the last twelve months.Exiting the ranks of the Ten Worst States from one year ago were California (with best year-on-year change of +2.2), Alabama (4th best year-on-year change of +1.0) and Kentucky.
