Owens & Minor Names Winners of 2013 Earl G. Reubel Awards in Honor of Healthcare Supplier Diversity Efforts at 8thAnnual Healthcare Supplier Diversity Symposium

Supply chain diversity award given in three categories: Entrepreneur, Healthcare Systems, and Civic Leader

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- At its 8th Annual Healthcare Supplier Diversity Symposium, Owens & Minor, Inc. (NYS: OMI) recognized three winners of the 2013 Earl G. Reubel Award, honoring them for supporting efforts to improve diversity in the healthcare supply chain. Owens & Minor established the award in 2012 to honor the life and legacy of the late Earl G. Reubel, founder of Kerma Medical Products, Inc., a noted minority-owned healthcare company. This year, the award was given in three categories - entrepreneur, healthcare system and civic leader - to those who clearly represented the entrepreneurial and civic spirit of Earl G. Reubel. The 2013 winners and first runners-up are:

  • Earl G. Reubel Entrepreneur of the Year:
    • Winner: Akhil K. Agrawal, President, American Medical Depot
    • First Runner Up: Mary Harroun, CEO, Merry Walker Corporation
  • Earl G. Reubel Hospital or Healthcare System of the Year:
    • Winner: University of Maryland Medical System
    • First Runner Up: Catholic Health Partners
  • Earl G. Reubel Civic Leader of the Year:
    • Winner: Darrel Mogilles, Assistant Vice President, Purchased Services & Supplier Diversity, HealthTrust
    • First Runner Up: Rosalyn Carpenter, Director, Supplier Diversity, Catholic Health Initiatives
