ARCADIS Water Management Expert to Participate in New Yorker Festival Panel

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD),the leading pure play global engineering and consultancy firm, today announced Piet Dircke, the firm's global program director for water management, will participate in a panel discussion at the 2013 New Yorker Festival, on Sat., Oct. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the SVA Theatre 2 in New York City.

The panel, "One Year After Sandy: Have We Learned Anything?" will feature Prof. Klaus Jacob of Columbia University, climate expert Dr. Heidi Cullen, U.S. Congressman Jerrold Nadler, and Dircke. The panelists will discuss potential vulnerabilities in coastal cities, impacts of shifts in regional and global water patterns, and impacts of Hurricane Sandy one year after it devastated the Eastern Seaboard. The panel will be moderated by New Yorker writer Elizabeth Kolbert.

Dircke is considered a leading global expert in flood protection and climate adaptation for coastal and delta cities. Prior to and after superstorm Sandy hit the East Coast, he has been involved in knowledge exchange projects on climate change adaptation, flood protection and waterfront development in New York. He is currently participating in or leading a number of post-Sandy damage assessments and recovery plans and is active in the development of urban flood protection systems for Lower Manhattan.

The New Yorker Festival will take place in New York City on October 4, 5, and 6.
