Alere Beats on the Top Line

EPS came in at $0.64. The 10 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.48 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.64 for Q2 were 33% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.48 per share. GAAP EPS were -$0.81 for Q2 versus -$0.23 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 50.3%, 50 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 5.8%, 110 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -7.9%, 610 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $723.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.52.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.95 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.17.
