Valero Energy Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines

EPS came in at $0.96. The 14 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.94 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.96 for Q2 were 36% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.50 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.85 for Q2 were 43% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.50 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 4.2%, 140 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 2.4%, 160 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 1.4%, 100 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $32.95 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.38.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $123.04 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.42.
