RadioShack Misses Where it Counts
RadioShack (NYS: RSH) reported earnings on July 23. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended June 30 (Q2), RadioShack beat expectations on revenues and missed expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue dropped. Non-GAAP loss per share increased. GAAP loss per share expanded.
Margins dropped across the board.
RadioShack logged revenue of $844.5 million. The 14 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ foresaw a top line of $816.5 million on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 11% lower than the prior-year quarter's $953.2 million.

EPS came in at -$0.50. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted -$0.24 per share. Non-GAAP EPS were -$0.50 for Q2 versus -$0.21 per share for the prior-year quarter. GAAP EPS were -$0.53 for Q2 compared to -$0.21 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 37.2%, 60 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was -4.6%, 250 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -6.3%, 410 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $881.0 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is -$0.25.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $3.73 billion. The average EPS estimate is -$0.73.
The stock has a one-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 429 members out of 895 rating the stock outperform, and 466 members rating it underperform. Among 239 CAPS All-Star picks (recommendations by the highest-ranked CAPS members), 108 give RadioShack a green thumbs-up, and 131 give it a red thumbs-down.
