Genuine Parts Meets on the Top Line, Misses Where it Counts
Genuine Parts (NYS: GPC) reported earnings on July 18. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.17. The 10 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $1.21 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.17 for Q2 were 8.3% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.08 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.39 for Q2 were 29% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.08 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 30.1%, 100 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 8.6%, 40 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.9%, 80 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $3.79 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.27.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $14.25 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.51.
