Toyota Beats Analyst Estimates on EPS
Toyota (NYS: TM) reported earnings on June 24. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended March 31 (Q4), Toyota missed slightly on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue dropped. Non-GAAP earnings per share grew significantly. GAAP earnings per share grew significantly.
Margins expanded across the board.
Toyota chalked up revenue of $61.97 billion. The nine analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated a top line of $63.00 billion on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 10% lower than the prior-year quarter's $69.20 billion.

EPS came in at $2.01. The two earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $1.71 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $2.01 for Q4 were 109% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.96 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.97 for Q4 were 111% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.46 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 17.9%, 460 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 8.6%, 440 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.4%, 330 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $59.00 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $2.59.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $252.53 billion. The average EPS estimate is $10.29.
