Southwestern Energy Misses on Revenues but Beats on EPS
Southwestern Energy (NYS: SWN) reported earnings on May 2. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.42. The 35 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.38 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.42 for Q1 were 35% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.31 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.36 for Q1 were 16% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.31 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 66.7%, 170 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 34.3%, 600 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 17.4%, 100 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $553.6 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.49.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.31 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.89.
