Crown Holdings Beats on EPS But GAAP Results Lag

EPS came in at $0.50. The 13 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.48 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.50 for Q1 were 8.7% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.46 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.28 for Q1 were 39% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.46 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 16.9%, much about the same as the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 9.9%, 60 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 2.1%, 140 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.30 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.95.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $8.91 billion. The average EPS estimate is $3.28.
