Best 48 Hours: Springtime Adventures in Aspen, Colorado
During the height of winter and summer, Aspen hums with local chefs who double as rock climbers, heavy-hitting intellectuals who fly in for idealistic and world-altering conferences, and celebrities who roam the streets in furs and moon boots. Plus, it's nearly impossible to get a rez at Matsuhisa-not to mention a parking spot.
But if you want to experience this town's breathtaking beauty in a quieter state -- when the Maroon Bells are still striated with snow, the valleys are turning emerald green, and hotels and restaurants offer (relatively) cut-rate deals -- plan a trip after ski season wraps up but before the June rush.
