Active Network Increases Sales but Misses Revenue Estimate
Active Network (NYS: ACTV) reported earnings on Feb. 14. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Active Network missed slightly on revenues and exceeded expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue increased significantly and GAAP loss per share increased.

Active Network reported revenue of $93.7 million. The seven analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ predicted a top line of $95.2 million on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 23% higher than the prior-year quarter's $76.0 million.

EPS came in at -$0.10. The seven earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast -$0.11 per share. GAAP EPS were -$0.24 for Q4 compared to -$0.16 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 52.5%, 70 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was -16.1%, 90 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -15.3%, 410 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $106.2 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is -$0.15.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $475.0 million. The average EPS estimate is -$0.08.
The stock has a two-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 38 members out of 49 rating the stock outperform, and 11 members rating it underperform.
