Apple's (NAS: AAPL) newest product, the iPad mini, went on sale today at retail outlets across the world.

Reuters reports that crowds were smaller than for previous products.. However, there are reports of it selling out at Apple's Fifth Avenue store in Manhattan, and those ordering online will have to wait two weeks to have it shipped.

The iPad mini sports a 7.9-inch screen and is 53% lighter than the iPad 3. The small tablet's price begins at $329 for the 16GB model and advances to $529 for the 64GB model.

Apple also released its newest version of the iPad tablet -- the iPad 4. The iPad 4, boasting a retina display for its 9.7-inch screen, begins pricing at $499 for the 16GB model and advances all the way to $699 for the 64GB model.

Analysts have predicted Apple will sell around  1 million to 1.5 million iPad minis in the first weekend.
