How the Wheels Came Off Concho Resources' Bus

EPS came in at $0.78. The 19 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.00 per share. GAAP EPS of $3.07 for Q2 were 37% higher than the prior-year quarter's $2.24 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 79.7%, 530 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 129.2%, 3,980 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 73.8%, 2,180 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $524.3 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.12.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.04 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.43.
The stock has a three-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 241 members out of 258 rating the stock outperform, and 17 members rating it underperform.
