House of the Day: A Tony Townhome in Greenwich Village
The 8,475-square-foot five-story townhouse is currently being used by The Pen and Brush for exhibition and performance space. The property may be used as a single-family residence or for mixed use.
Parker and Broderick had it under contract for 14 months before deciding to instead buy a smaller townhouse two doors away. Just plain fickle, we guess. The 25-foot-wide townhouse was originally built in 1848, making it seriously pre-war, we'd say. It has 14-foot ceilings, parquet floors, elaborate crown moldings, rounded archways, an original staircase and 11 marble fireplaces. And it's located on one of the Village's prettiest tree-lined streets.
