Military Families Get Free Admission from 1,300 Museums
Thanks to a program with the National Endowment for the Arts, active duty military personnel and their families can receive free admission at more than 1,300 museums across the U.S. throughout the summer.
The offer, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, is part of the expanded Blue Star Museums program that will be announced Monday, reports the Associated Press.
The program began last year with a roster of 600 participating museums.
Some participating locations include: The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; Hampton Roads Naval Museum in Norfolk, VA; The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville, FL; The San Diego Museum of Art in San Diego, CA and the CDC/Global Health Odyssey Museum in Atlanta.
The military discount is available to active duty members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard plus National Guard and Reserve members and up to five immediate family members.
Dependents whose spouses are currently deployed are still eligible to participate in the program provided they have the necessary military identification.
