Two European tourists who went missing for two during snowstorm in Chile have been rescued.

Anna Lombardo, of Italy, and Phillip Kunk, of the Czech Republic, went missing last Thursday in Villarrica National Park, located in Chile's central-southern La Araucania region.

The pair was hiking the Quetrupillan volcano when they were hit by heavy snow and gusting winds, reports the Agence France Presse.

Rescuers were able to locate them thanks to a distress message sent via the GPS tracking system on their satellite phone.

Both were taken to the San Francisco de Pucon Hospital with signs of possible hypothermia.
