My Michelle Recalls Girls' Clothing Because of High Lead Levels
Lead can be toxic to small children and even affect adults, leading to kidney damage, anemia and other health issues. So far, there are no reports of children getting sick from wearing the clothing, the CPSC stated.Included in the recall are girls' tops and dresses sold in sizes small to extra large and sizes 7 to 16. The clothing has various styles, including tops with attached beaded necklaces or decorative beads on the collars. All of the clothing has a black manufacturer's tag with "mymichelle" printed in pink.
The clothes were sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Dillard's, J.C. Penney, Kohl's, Army and Air Force Exchange, K&G Fashion Superstore and other stores nationwide from January 2011 through March 2011 for about $38 each.
Consumers should keep the clothing away from children and contact My Michelle for a refund. The company can be reached by phone at (800) 960-8791 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST or via e-mail.
