Teen Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor on Carnival Cruise
A 19-year-old Mississippi man has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor on the 2,052-passenger Carnival Elation, during a four-night cruise to Mexico from Mobile, Alabama.
Dylan Cole Bloodsworth was arrested by the FBI without incident this week at his home in Gautier, Mississippi, reports the Mobile Press-Register.
Carnival Cruise Lines says in a statement the incident occurred on a sailing that embarked on March 3, and the cruise line reported the allegations to the FBI.
"Carnival's security personnel conducted an investigation onboard and turned over all evidence to the FBI when the vessel returned to Mobile on March 7," spokeswoman Ally Bello tells AOL Travel News. "Carnival fully cooperated with the FBI in its investigation."
The cruise line declined to give additional details.
According to the newspaper, Bloodsworth also faces charges in an unrelated case in Mississippi where he is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook. He reportedly took the Carnival cruise after posting $20,000 bail, and even bragged about his vacation on Facebook.
The shipboard case will be heard in federal court, since the incident occurred in international waters.
The Elation is the only cruise ship homeported in Mobile, but Carnival announced last month it would be moving the ship to New Orleans in October.
