Ikea Recalls Sniglar Cribs Over Mattress Collapse Fears
So far, no one has reported injuries or mattress supports collapsing, the CPSC said. Included in the recall are Sniglar non-drop side, full-size cribs with model number 60091931. The crib frame and mattress support are made of natural and light-colored wood. The model number and the words Sniglar and IKEA are printed on the mattress support label.About 20,000 cribs were sold in the U.S. and 6,000 in Canada at IKEA stores from October 2005 through June 2010 for about $80 each.
Consumers should stop using the Romanian-made cribs and check to see if the mattress-support bolts extend through the nuts -- if so, the bolts are proper length and the crib isn't included in the recall. If not, then call IKEA for a free repair kit at (888) 966-4532 and do not use the crib until it is fixed.
This is the second recall in as many months for IKEA. In January it recalled about 128,000 of its RUND glass mugs after reports of them shattering.
