A plane bound for Brisbane, Australia was delayed in Brunei after the crew spotted a little stowaway onboard – a hamster.

The rodent, which was apparently scurrying around the plane, caused the Royal Brunei Airlines flight to be evacuated while airline staff searched for the creature, reports the Courier-Mail newspaper.

The flight had originated in the UK.

Officials of the airline say it was unclear exactly how the hamster got onboard the plane, but some passengers reported seeing a young girl crying when the pilot asked the owner to come forward.

The hamster could not be found, and the plane was later fumigated. The fate of the hamster remained unclear.

Meanwhile, passengers were delayed for about an hour, and had to undergo a second security screening before boarding a new plane for their flight to Brisbane.
