Green Mountain Vista recalls Roman shades over child strangulation fears
The Roman shades recall adds to a long list of similar actions since December. So far, no one has been hurt by Green Mountain Vista shades, the CPSC said. They were sold nationwide in stores and mail-order catalogs from September 2004 through August 2010 for $40 to $120. The shades were made in China and carry a sewn label with RN#107875 on it.
Consumers should not use the shades until they purchase a repair kit. They're available free from the Window Covering Safety Council by calling (800) 506-4636 or visiting the group's web site. Consumers can also call Green Mountain Vista at (800) 639-1728 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday.
In July, more than 1 million Smith+Noble window shades and blinds were recalled after a Washington state boy nearly strangled. The past year has seen millions of shades recalled as part of an industry push to help prevent child strangulation deaths.
