A Bottle Top is a small, plastic cone-with-a-cap that turns the top of your soda can into the top of a soda bottle. It's a charming little product that solves a problem you didn't know you had.
I don't like pressing my lips to an aluminum can, which produces a lingering metallic taste. Soda cans slosh around and spill in the car. An open can loses its fizz, and my kitchen always seems littered with half full (or is it half empty?) cans.
These are not big problems on the scale of, say, Bethenny getting married. But Bottle Top solves them, anyway.
Open a can, snap on a colorful Bottle Top, and you're good to go. In a side-by-side comparison, the can dressed with a Bottle Top stayed far fizzier than the naked can after a night in the fridge.
During the video shoot for this product, I tossed and flipped the half empty (of is it half full?) Bottle Top can, and nothing spilled. When I twirled a full can, a little liquid leaked through the pressure cap -- a safety feature that prevents the can from exploding while you're fooling around.
The Bottle Top snaps off easily if you squeeze the sides of the can. Make sure, however, the can is empty, or you'll press soda onto your counter. Also, always open the can BEFORE you snap on the Bottle Top, or you'll have to stab the can open with a screwdriver, like someone I know.
Used properly, reusable Bottle Tops work. If I think of it, I reach for one before I open a can.
Is a Bottle Top the solution to world peace?
If my son doesn't spill soda all over the car, our world is much more peaceful.
