What do Americans Do on Vacation? Pray

Travelers rank prayer highest in their daily routines while on vacation, according to a new survey by Marriott's SpringHill Suites.

The independent survey of 1,000 consumers, conducted by independent research firm TNS, shows one in four Americans pray daily on vacation.

In the online survey, travelers who fear flying said they turn to prayer too, with nearly one-third saying they pray to calm pre-flight jitters.

In other findings, the respondents said they unplug from email and social media to spend quality time with friends and family. Only 17 percent said they cannot go without checking email or a smartphone while on vacation.

Of those who regularly use social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, more than half said they do not log on when on vacation.
